Valery Yurlov, biography, selected works
«Counterforms» exhibition of Valery Yurlov presents a collection of graphic works, collages and artobjects, created by the author at the 50's in the Soviet Union.
Place and time have a certain meaning in the author’s imagination, as he is more known by his foreign art pieces of another life period and made of another material.
The uniqueness of this material is not only in its good condition and in it’s first time presentation as a whole exhibition. Of course it is also valuable but there is another motivation accent.
At this exhibition, there are presented first steps, first ‘insights’ of the author and even presented an appearance of a system, which has defined art-paradigms of the artist, who suddenly perceived Russian avant-garde ideas, ‘forbidden’ in those days. These ideas perceived directly from the witnesses and mediums, were developed by the student in a live innovatory antithesis to a strict social-artistic doctrine in 50’s.
The term ‘counterforms’, understood as a comparison of opposite forms and its communication in a plane, which are to be considered according to formal-conceptual program announced by avant-garde artists and developed by Valery Yurlov.
